Stability of 5-fluorouracil in whole blood and plasma.

We studied the stability of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) in plasma and whole blood kept at room temperature and on ice for 1 to 24 h. At room temperature, there was a steady loss of 94% of the parent drug over 24 h in whole blood and 52% in plasma. In the presence of an excess of uracil, 5-FU was stable for 24 h, suggesting that the loss of 5-FU is the result of enzymatic degradation. 5-FU is more sta...

Stability of catecholamines in whole blood, plasma, and platelets.

Checking catecholamine stability in whole blood, plasma, and platelets, we found that specimens stored at room temperature or frozen for periods ranging from 1.5 h to three weeks show no significant difference in measured catecholamine concentration. The implications of these findings are discussed.

Choline in whole blood and plasma: sample preparation and stability.

BACKGROUND Choline is critical for a variety of biological functions and has been investigated as a biomarker for various pathological conditions including acute coronary syndrome. METHODS A liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method was used to quantify choline in whole blood and plasma in freshly collected samples prepared with ultrafiltration or protein precipitation....

Determination of L- Ascorbic Acid in Plasma by Voltammetric Method

Voltammetric techniques have been considered as important methods among the analytical techniques used for the identification and determination of trace concentrations of many biological molecules such as L-ascorbic acid (AA). L-ascorbic acid is an electro-active molecule, though it is difficult to determine its value directly with a majority of electrodes made of carbon and transition metals, ...
